What is nery castillo?

Nery Alberto Castillo Confalonieri is a retired Mexican professional soccer player who was born on June 13, 1984, in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. He played as a striker and attacking midfielder during his career.

Castillo began his professional career with Mexican club Santos Laguna in 2002 before moving to Europe to play for Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk in 2006. He also had stints with clubs such as Olympiacos in Greece, Manchester City in England, and Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in Ukraine.

Castillo represented the Mexico national team, earning 52 caps and scoring 16 goals. He played in several international competitions, including the FIFA World Cup and the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Throughout his career, Castillo struggled with injuries and inconsistent playing time, which affected his performance on the field. He officially announced his retirement from professional soccer in 2019.
